When I was a child, my family drove right past this natural wonder every summer... without ever stopping! Mom and dad, why, oh why didn't we stop to see Dry Falls?! Simply one of the most astounding displays of nature I have ever seen. Standing there with the realization that only 15,000 years ago, that very spot was under a raging torrent of water more than 400 feet deep with another 400 foot drop for the falls. Just amazing! A must see!

This is a cool place for a quick stop. They do have picnic benches. The views are stunning. There is a great interpretive center to explain the geology of the area.

While you are checking out the view from above Dry Falls, make sure you visit the visitor center to get more of the interesting history. Then make your way down to the dirt road and so some exploring!

So beautiful. Great views. Didn't get to go into the visitors center as it was gated off. But worth the stop at the rest area!

So we seen this place called the Scablands online and it seemed impressive and we really wanted to explore it. Turns out we could only see it from an aerial view and the dry falls was the area we could visit. It used to be a huge water fall miles wide, so it was still cool to see and learn more about. There was also an ice cream vendor right there. Nice stop.

This view is from the visitor center. Going to the state park will take you down inside. I visited early August 2022. It was a beautiful, sunny day. Breezy. The view is spectacular. The visitor center offers all the history, a knowledgeable ranger and a store. There was a beverage/ice cream truck available and table and chairs overlooking the dry falls where you can enjoy your treat. Highly recommend if you're anywhere close by. So worth the drive.
